Santa Claus Art by Celia Meadors

Every piece here began as an oil painting on canvas in Celia Meadors' Texas studio. She thins her paint until it moves like watercolor, lets the color drift across the surface, then draws a face out of it. The result is a Santa Claus with real skin, real weather in his cheeks and a personality you can read from across a room.

Celia spent nearly four decades as a composite artist for the Amarillo Police Department, building faces from nothing but a witness description. That training shows in these paintings. The eyes hold you, the beards have weight and no two Santas look like they came from the same hand twice.
